In a decisive step towards combating substance abuse, the Government of Jharkhand has initiated a four-day divisional-level training program for Master Trainers from May 20 to 23, 2025. The initiative, held at Shaurya Auditorium, Doranda, was inaugurated by Vandana Dadel, Principal Secretary of the Department of Home, Jail & Disaster Management, and marks a key move under Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s directive to intensify the state’s anti-narcotics campaign.
With rising concerns about the misuse of narcotic and psychotropic substances, CM Hemant Soren has instructed multiple departments to coordinate and implement targeted awareness and prevention strategies. The training initiative is aimed at creating a statewide awareness infrastructure by empowering Master Trainers from various government departments to act as awareness catalysts.
Divisional Training Schedule from May 20–23
The four-day training session is being held division-wise, with a different administrative division participating each day:
May 20: South Chotanagpur Division
May 21: North Chotanagpur Division
May 22: Santhal Pargana Division
May 23: Kolhan & Palamu Divisions
The first day of training focused on officials from South Chotanagpur, who were briefed on how to lead impactful grassroots campaigns against drug abuse.
Holistic Curriculum Covers Health, Law, and Community Engagement
The training includes multi-dimensional learning modules such as:

Experts highlighted not only the health hazards of drug addiction, but also the legal consequences, ensuring that Master Trainers are well-equipped to spread awareness and facilitate intervention programs.
Interdepartmental Participation to Build Unified Response
Master Trainers were selected from a wide range of departments to ensure a holistic and coordinated response:
- School Education & Literacy Department
- Higher & Technical Education Department
- Women, Child Development & Social Security Department
- Health, Medical Education & Family Welfare Department
- Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs Department
- Jharkhand Police
- Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS)
- Department of Forest, Environment & Climate Change
By training officials across this spectrum, the state aims to decentralize awareness and prevention efforts, extending them to schools, colleges, police stations, and community hubs.
Jharkhand Reinforces Commitment to Drug-Free Future
This initiative reflects Jharkhand’s proactive and structured approach to tackling one of the most pressing social challenges. With each trained Master Trainer expected to reach hundreds in their own localities, the campaign is poised to create ripple effects throughout the state.
The government’s long-term goal remains clear: to build a drug-free, aware, and resilient Jharkhand — and this training program is a major step toward realizing that vision.
