In a significant breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing dismantled the terror network of the newly formed group, Tehreek Labaik Ya Muslim (TLM), following multiple raids across several districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
The anti-terror operation, executed with precision, targeted key operatives in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Kulgam, Budgam, Anantnag, and Pulwama. Authorities claim that TLM is an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and is allegedly operating under the guidance of a Pakistani handler, identified by the alias ‘Baba Hamas.’
Recruitment Module Neutralised
The primary goal of the raids was to neutralise a recruitment module within TLM, which had been actively involved in mobilising young men for militant activities. Jammu and Kashmir Police stated that the group was behind a recent surge in recruitment efforts across the region. The operation was launched based on intelligence inputs that indicated the widespread network of TLM in the Kashmir valley.
Link to Ganderbal Terror Attack
The dismantling of the TLM network follows a recent terror attack in Ganderbal, which claimed the lives of seven individuals. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha confirmed that two foreign terrorists, likely infiltrators from Bandipora in North Kashmir, were involved in the Ganderbal attack. This incident heightened security tensions across the valley, prompting increased vigilance and deployment of additional paramilitary forces.
Pakistani Handler Behind the Operations
Preliminary investigations have revealed that TLM, despite being a recently formed terror organisation, has ideological and logistical ties to Lashkar-e-Taiba. The group was reportedly being cultivated by ‘Baba Hamas,’ a known Pakistani handler with deep connections to transnational terror networks. His role included overseeing cross-border infiltration, funding operations, and orchestrating recruitment strategies for TLM.
Heightened Security Measures in Kashmir Valley
In the wake of the Ganderbal attack and the dismantling of the TLM recruitment network, security has been tightened across major urban centres and border districts in Jammu and Kashmir. Checkpoints have been established, and additional forces have been deployed to maintain peace and prevent further militant activities.
This operation marks a significant step towards curbing the rise of terrorism in the Kashmir region, though security officials remain on high alert as the situation continues to evolve.
