Viral video shows bus stuck in sinkhole as road caves in amid heavy rainfall in Jaipur

A disturbing video from Jaipur, Rajasthan, shows a school bus from Mount Carmel Convent School falling into a sinkhole while transporting students, causing widespread concern on social media.

The footage, shared on Instagram and other platforms, shows the bus with its rear wheels submerged in the sinkhole, while the front of the vehicle is elevated off the ground. At the time of the incident, two children, the driver, and the conductor were inside the bus.

Local residents gathered around the scene, with reports indicating no injuries to the children, although the driver sustained minor injuries. The school bus was later extricated from the sinkhole using a crane.

This incident has heightened concerns about municipal management, particularly as the sinkhole was attributed to recent heavy rainfall in the area. Rajasthan has faced sporadic downpours this year, which have contributed to road damage.

Reacting to the video, one user commented, “We are heading to become a developed country.” Another user remarked, “Vikas hi vikas,” while many others used emojis to express their thoughts about the incident.

The video has sparked a conversation about the state of infrastructure and the need for improved urban planning to prevent such occurrences in the future.
