Pakistani actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead inside her upscale Karachi apartment, nine months after her presumed death. According to the initial postmortem report, her body was discovered in an “advanced stage of decomposition,” with organs turned black and facial features entirely unrecognisable.
The 32-year-old’s remains were found when a police team, accompanied by a court-appointed bailiff, arrived to execute a court order to vacate the apartment. Authorities were alerted after the property owner lodged a complaint about unpaid rent.
Postmortem Report Paints a Grim Picture
Forensic experts concluded that Humaira’s body was severely decomposed. “Parts of the body were entirely devoid of muscle tissue, and the bones began to disintegrate upon touch,” the report stated. It further noted that the brain matter had completely autolysed, and internal organs had transformed into a black-coloured mass.
“There was no cartilage in the joints, though no bone fractures were found. Brown-coloured insects were discovered, especially in the hair, but no maggots were present,” the report added. The head and spine remained intact, but there was no spinal cord as it had decomposed completely.
Due to the extent of decomposition, the exact cause of death is yet to be determined. However, DNA profiling and toxicology testing are underway to establish further details.

Timeline Points to October 2024
Deputy Inspector General of Police Syed Asad Raza confirmed that Humaira’s last recorded phone call was in October 2024. Neighbours said they hadn’t seen her since September or October. Electricity to the apartment was disconnected due to non-payment during the same period, with no signs of alternative power sources or even candles.
Food inside the apartment was found expired, and the water pipes had rusted. The only neighbouring apartment on the same floor was vacant, which likely explains why the smell of decomposition went unnoticed.
Body Claimed by Family After Initial Reluctance
Initially, Humaira’s family reportedly refused to claim the body. However, her brother Naveed Asghar later arrived in Karachi to identify and retrieve the remains. Due to the condition of the body, a DNA test was conducted for verification.
Naveed explained that Humaira had moved to Karachi from Lahore about seven years ago and had not visited the family for nearly a year and a half. “That is why my father said that if there is any emergency, then you can bury her there [in Karachi],” he shared. He also raised questions about the investigation, particularly concerning the landlord.
A Rising Star Gone Too Soon
Humaira Asghar began her acting career in 2015 and appeared in various dramas such as Just Married, Ehsaan Faramosh, Guru, and Chal Dil Mere. Her film credits include Jalaibee (2015) and Love Vaccine (2021). In 2022, she gained popularity through the reality TV show Tamasha Ghar on ARY Digital. She was honoured as Best Emerging Talent & Rising Star at the National Woman Leadership Awards in 2023.
The investigation into her mysterious death remains ongoing.
