Gumla Naxal Encounter | Three members of the Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP), a splinter group of the CPI (Maoist), were killed during a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand’s Gumla district on Saturday morning, according to police.
The joint operation was conducted by the Jharkhand Jaguar and Gumla Police based on intelligence inputs indicating the presence of armed JJMP members near Lawadag in Ghaghra police station area.
Police officers stated that several rounds were exchanged between the Naxalites and the security forces. Following the firing, an AK-47 rifle and two INSAS rifles were recovered from the scene.
Gumla Superintendent of Police Haris Bin Zaman confirmed that one of the deceased was identified as Dilip Lohra, 32, a resident of Belagada in Ghaghra. The identity of the other two deceased individuals is yet to be established.
Two Naxalites Escape During Operation, Search Underway
According to SP Zaman, the JJMP cadres had been hiding in a house near Lawadag Choraltwa village for two to three days.

“As the police reached the spot, the Naxalites opened fire and attempted to flee. In the exchange of fire that followed, three JJMP members were neutralised, while two others managed to escape,” he said.
Security forces are currently conducting search operations in the surrounding areas to track down the escaped individuals.
