The father of Chetan Chaudhary, one of the accused in the Pune fort murder case, has denied his son’s involvement in the alleged crime and claimed that he is being falsely implicated. Babulal Chaudhary, a grocery shop owner, stated that his 22-year-old son had no role in the incident and suggested that co-accused Siya Goyal was attempting to shift blame to protect herself.
Speaking to reporters, Babulal Chaudhary said that neither he nor his family members knew Siya Goyal before the case emerged. He stated that he learned her name only recently and had never met her before seeing her at the police station. The accused’s father further claimed that when he met Chetan after the arrest, his son told him he was standing at a considerable distance from Siya and Ketan when the incident occurred.
Questions Remain Over Chetan’s Presence at Fort
Babulal Chaudhary said the family was unaware of the reason Chetan was present at Lohagarh Fort on the day of the incident. According to him, his son did not explain why he had gone to the location. Despite the ongoing investigation, he maintained that Chetan was not involved in the alleged offence and said the family had no knowledge of any relationship between him and Siya Goyal.
Defending his son’s character, Babulal Chaudhary described him as a sportsman and said there had never been complaints against him. He added that family members were unaware of any alleged romantic involvement between Chetan and Siya. The father also claimed that during a brief meeting at the police station, Chetan told the family that he was being falsely implicated in the case, reported ANI.

Defence Lawyer Challenges Allegations
Chetan Chaudhary’s lawyer, Ram Shahane, also questioned the allegations against his client. He stated that the First Information Report (FIR) does not specifically detail Chetan’s role in the alleged offence.
According to the lawyer, the FIR primarily identifies Chetan as the boyfriend of the main accused and links him to the case on that basis. He said the defence raised these arguments during the initial remand proceedings when Chetan was first produced before the court.

What happened earlier?
Ketan Agarwal, a Pune businessman, had reportedly made elaborate arrangements to celebrate the upcoming 20th birthday of his fiancée, Siya Goyal, shortly before his death. Videos that surfaced during the investigation showed Agarwal presenting Goyal with a bouquet inside a flower-decorated luxury convertible.
The case, which initially appeared to be a tragic trekking accident at Pune’s Lohagarh Fort, later took a dramatic turn following a police investigation. Authorities reviewed CCTV footage recorded on June 18 and observed Agarwal walking near the fort with Goyal. The footage also showed another man, later identified as Chaudhary,
Investigators said one of the factors that raised suspicion was Chaudhary’s attire on the day of the incident. Despite the warm weather, with temperatures around 33 degrees Celsius, he was reportedly seen wearing a hoodie, prompting officials to scrutinise the CCTV footage more closely as part of the investigation that eventually led to the arrests.
