West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday held an informal interaction with senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh during his visit to the newly inaugurated Jagannath Temple in Digha. Other BJP leaders from the state reportedly declined the invitation to join the inaugural event.

Ghosh, accompanied by his wife and fellow BJP leader Rinku Majumdar, arrived at the coastal town around 5:16 PM to attend the temple’s inaugural ceremony. He was welcomed by State Power Minister Aroop Biswas and TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh.
Ghosh meets CM Mamata Banerjee after offering prayers
After offering prayers at the temple, the former BJP MP and his wife met the Chief Minister inside a building situated on the same premises. The leaders exchanged greetings and spoke briefly about the architectural splendour and spiritual significance of the new temple.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Ghosh remarked, “We should leave all differences outside before entering this sacred place. Within these premises, there is no distinction between human beings.”

BJP distances himself from Ghosh, other party leaders skips event
Chief Secretary Manoj Pant had extended invitations to several senior BJP leaders, including state party president Sukanta Majumdar and Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari. However, both leaders opted not to attend the event.

Speaking to media West Bengal BJP president Sukanta Majumder said that the party does not supports Dilip Ghosh on this matter, adding that attending to this temple event would mean to ignore the plight of Hindus in Murshidabad who suffered as a result of waqf violence.
