Puneet Khurana, a 40-year-old businessman, died by suicide at his Model Town residence on January 1, 2025, allegedly due to prolonged mental harassment by his estranged wife, Manika Pahwa, and her family. Puneet’s family has leveled serious allegations against Manika, claiming she and her family mentally tortured him and pushed him to the brink.
Speaking to a news agency, Puneet’s sister said, “Manika, her parents, and her sister constantly harassed my brother. They pressured him, instigated him with statements like, ‘You can’t do anything, die by suicide if you dare.’ Before his death, Puneet recorded a video detailing the mental torture he endured. They even threatened to evict our parents and prevented him from operating his shop.”
The sister further alleged that there was a business dispute between Puneet and Manika. “During their separation, it was decided in writing that Puneet would manage ‘For God’s Bakery,’ while Manika would take over ‘Woodbox Cafe.’ Despite this agreement, she continued to demand a share in the bakery, calling and harassing him repeatedly,” she claimed.
The family also accused Manika of hacking Puneet’s Instagram account and using it to harass others, which they believe added to his distress.
Mother Seeks Justice
Puneet’s mother expressed deep anguish, stating, “I hoped they would move on after separation, but she kept torturing him. He bore his grief silently, worried that sharing it would upset us. He was a successful man, but her relentless harassment led him to take this extreme step. I’ve lost my son, and I demand justice for him so that his soul finds peace.”

The police confirmed that Puneet died by hanging and revealed that he had spoken to Manika the night before. A recorded conversation between the two reportedly captures a heated argument over business matters.
A complaint has been registered by Puneet’s family, who are demanding action against Manika and her family. Authorities are investigating the claims, including the video Puneet allegedly recorded before his death.
Puneet and Manika married in 2016 but separated two years ago. Divorce proceedings were ongoing, and their business arrangements had been a point of contention.
This case underscores the importance of addressing mental health challenges and offering support to individuals dealing with personal and professional disputes.
