Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena expressed his disappointment in a letter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over Kejriwal’s recent statement referring to Atishi as a “temporary CM.” Saxena described the remark as both “disappointing and objectionable.”
In his letter, Saxena stated, “I found this very objectionable and I was hurt by it. It was not only an insult to you, but also to your appointing authority, the President of India, and to me as her representative. As a Lieutenant Governor, I am concerned about this level of public discourse and at the same time, I am hurt by the conversation of presenting the full-time Chief Minister of my government as a temporary Chief Minister.”
He further added, “The statements by Kejriwal reflected poorly on the stability and integrity of the Delhi government, casting a shadow over its democratic practices.”
Criticism of Governance
Saxena also addressed issues with previous governance under Arvind Kejriwal, criticizing certain schemes and policies promoted by the Delhi government. He condemned what he termed as “unauthorized announcements” made in Kejriwal’s presence, which he claimed misled the public.

Saxena remarked, “The way in which, in your presence, Kejriwal has made unauthorized announcements about senior citizens’ and women’s schemes in the name of the chief minister has tarnished the dignity of the office of the chief minister and the council of ministers.”
Concerns Over Allegations
Saxena also criticized Kejriwal’s allegations regarding Atishi’s involvement in a fake case related to the transport department. He pointed out that such statements could adversely affect Atishi’s role as a full-time Chief Minister.
Despite the recent criticism, Saxena had earlier praised Atishi’s performance as Chief Minister during Kejriwal’s absence in the Delhi liquor case. In November, he lauded her saying she had been “a thousand times better than” Kejriwal. Atishi had emerged as the face of AAP during that period. Saxena extended his greetings for the New Year as well.
