Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is on the cusp of launching its highly anticipated 4G services across India. As part of its preparation for the rollout, the state-owned telecom provider has introduced a new logo reflecting its commitment to delivering services that are secure, affordable, and reliable. Alongside this rebranding, BSNL also announced seven innovative services aimed at enhancing user experience and addressing modern connectivity challenges.
BSNL New Logo Unveiled
The launch event, held at BSNL’s headquarters in New Delhi, saw the presence of Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, and Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications Neeraj Mittal. The new logo represents BSNL’s three core values: security, affordability, and reliability, aligning with its strategy for future growth.
Introduction of Seven New Services
In addition to the logo unveiling, BSNL introduced a suite of seven new services aimed at improving network efficiency and expanding its offerings. Among the most notable services is an advanced spam protection measure, which automatically filters out malicious SMS and phishing attempts without notifying the consumer, providing seamless protection.

BSNL has also rolled out a national Wi-Fi roaming service, enabling fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) users to access high-speed internet at BSNL hotspots across the country, thus reducing data consumption costs for users. This is especially beneficial for customers frequently on the move.
The company’s television services are also receiving a significant boost with the introduction of a fibre-based intranet TV service. This service offers over 500 live TV channels and a Pay TV option, all without consuming data from users’ FTTH plans, providing a more cost-effective entertainment option for consumers.
Cutting-edge Direct-to-Device (D2D) Connectivity and SIM Kiosks
BSNL is taking connectivity a step further by converging satellite and terrestrial mobile networks with its new direct-to-device (D2D) service. This technology is designed to ensure uninterrupted connectivity in isolated or disaster-stricken regions, making it an essential tool for enabling UPI payments in emergencies. The company is also rolling out encrypted communication platforms for government agencies and disaster relief teams, utilizing balloon-based and drone-based systems for expanded coverage.
The telecom giant is also simplifying SIM management for customers by launching Any Time SIM (ATM) kiosks. These kiosks, equipped with QR-enabled UPI payments and multi-lingual support, allow users to purchase, replace, upgrade, or port their SIM cards conveniently.
Strategic Moves Toward 5G and Beyond
BSNL’s 4G efforts are part of a larger vision to transition to 5G-ready services. In August, the company introduced a 4G and 5G-ready over-the-air (OTA) and Universal SIM (USIM) platform, laying the groundwork for its network expansion.
In another strategic initiative, BSNL announced a partnership with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to establish a private 5G network for mining services. This 5G network will support AI and IoT applications in underground and open-pit mines, enhancing safety through real-time monitoring, remote maintenance via augmented reality (AR), and optimized fleet tracking.
BSNL’s Push for Technological Leadership
With these developments, BSNL is positioning itself to be a key player in India’s telecom sector, bridging gaps in rural connectivity and advancing the nation’s technological landscape. As the company prepares to commercially launch its 4G services, its expanded offerings and robust infrastructure improvements promise to deliver enhanced connectivity to millions of users across the country.
