Two people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries earlier this week after a speeding car struck them in the Kaliyabeed area of Gujarat’s Bhavnagar, allegedly during a street race. The driver, identified as 20-year-old Harshraj Singh Gohil, was reportedly racing a friend around 4 PM on a crowded street when the accident occurred.
Harshraj, the son of Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Aniruddha Singh Vajubha Gohil of the Local Crime Branch, was reportedly driving at a speed between 120 to 150 kmph when the collision happened. A purported video of the incident circulating on social media shows a white car barreling through pedestrians at extremely high speed, leaving behind a cloud of dust.
Pedestrians Killed on the Spot; Accused Handed Over to Police by His Father
According to officials cited in reports, the car hit two pedestrians before skidding and colliding with a two-wheeler. The impact burst the scooter’s tyres, injuring the two people riding it. Several other vehicles were also damaged in the crash.
The deceased have been identified as 30-year-old Bhargav Bhatt and 65-year-old Champaben Vachani. Bhatt, who had married last year, was reportedly on his way to work when the accident took place. The injured victims were taken to Sir T Hospital for treatment.

Following the crash, Harshraj Singh Gohil’s father, ASI Aniruddha Gohil, arrived at the scene, reportedly beat his son, and handed him over to the Nilambag police station. Police officials said Harshraj was known to occasionally participate in street races with friends.
