In a dramatic revelation, the Mumbai police said that four guns—not three, as initially thought—were used in the murder of Maharashtra politician Baba Siddique. The incident, which took place on October 12 near the office of his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique, in Bandra East, left the country in shock. The fourth weapon has since been recovered, intensifying speculation over the origins and supply channels of these firearms.

According to sources, authorities are investigating whether the weapons were brought into India from Pakistan, potentially via drones. Images of the seized firearms have been sent to the Rajasthan police for further examination.

The murder of Baba Siddique, a prominent leader of the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party, has seen notorious jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang claim responsibility.

As the probe deepens, police have apprehended 15 suspects, though three remain at large. Among those on the run is main shooter Shivkumar Gautam, as well as key conspirators Shubham Lonkar and Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtar, both allegedly integral to the plot.

Key Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

The shooters identified by the police include Gurmail Baljit Singh of Haryana, Dharmaraj Kashyap of Uttar Pradesh, and Shivkumar Gautam, each accused of firing at Baba Siddique. Shubham Lonkar, brother of Pune resident Pravin Lonkar, is reportedly affiliated with Lawrence Bishnoi and is suspected of coordinating firearm supplies for the shooters.

Before carrying out the murder, the attackers reportedly threw chili powder at a police officer stationed nearby, in a brutal tactic to evade capture.

An additional accused, Harish Kumar Nisad, a scrap dealer from Pune, is believed to have financially supported the operation. Furthermore, sources revealed that Mohammed Zeeshan Akhtar, the main orchestrator, allegedly promised the operatives substantial rewards, including a foreign trip upon completing the task.

Escalating Gang Activity

In a related crackdown, the Delhi Police Special Cell has detained at least seven suspected shooters from the Bishnoi gang. Officials confirmed that these operatives were allegedly preparing for another high-profile attack in Rajasthan.

The Bishnoi gang’s criminal activities have escalated recently, involving homicide, extortion, and weapons trafficking, bringing them under the spotlight of law enforcement agencies across the country.
