Avantika Vandanapu, an Indian-American actor known for the role in “Mean Girls” became a hot topic online after rumours ran wild that she was cast as Rapunzel in the remake of the Disney movie series Tangled.
Avantika Vandanapu was reportedly to be cast as the main role in a Disney animated film. A post had been shared by the actress herself on her social media handle before the netizens started reacting. The post was eventually deleted by her. The post was full of negative comments.
Many social media users and her followers posted videos and memes claiming their disheartened thoughts with the actress for playing the role as the princess. The actor’s post was also full of negative comments as the followers claimed that they will never accept her as Rapunzel because of her dark skin tone.
“Don’t be Rapunzel u’re gonna ruin my childhood ok?”, one user wrote.
As the news spread all-over, the fans rushed to encourage and defend Avantika Vandanapu. They eventually pointed out that there is no confirmation that the actress will be playing the role ‘Rapunzel’.

“You are my rapunzel” one user added.
The animated film of Disney production named Tangled was released in November 2010. It was the classic fairytale where the main character was named ‘Rapunzel’. It was an adventure comedy starring voices by Mandy Moore as Rapunzel alongside Zachary Levi and Donna Murphy.
It was gradually divided in three sequels named: Tangled ever after, Tangled: Before Ever After and the series Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure.
