The upcoming Delhi Assembly election will unveil a “jugalbandi” (partnership) between the BJP and the Congress, said Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal. He claimed there is a covert alliance between the ruling BJP and the main Opposition Congress, heightening political tensions as the capital heads into a three-cornered contest.
Earlier, in response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of the AAP, Kejriwal posted, “Rahul Gandhi has abused me, but I will not comment on his remarks. His fight is to save the Congress; my fight is to save the country.”
In a swift reaction, senior BJP leader and IT cell head Amit Malviya retorted, “Worry about the country later, first save the New Delhi seat.” Kejriwal represents the New Delhi constituency in the Assembly.
Responding sharply, Kejriwal said, “Great. I wrote one line about Rahul Gandhi, and the response comes from BJP. See how much BJP is troubled. This Delhi election will probably reveal the years-long partnership between the Congress and the BJP.”

A Three-Cornered Contest
The national capital is gearing up for a fierce triangular battle on February 5, with the ruling AAP vying for a third consecutive term against the BJP and Congress. Notably, the AAP and Congress, who allied during the general elections months ago, are now exchanging heated remarks.

At a rally in Seelampur, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized former Chief Minister Kejriwal. “Arvind Kejriwal had said he would clean Delhi, remove corruption, and turn the national capital into Paris. What happened? One cannot move around due to pollution, and inflation is rising,” Gandhi remarked.
He further questioned, “Arvind Kejriwal had talked of removing corruption. Has he removed corruption? Pollution, corruption, and inflation are rising in Delhi.”
Gandhi also accused the AAP of remaining silent on the caste census issue and promised a caste survey if the Congress formed the government in Delhi.
BJP’s Efforts to Wrest Control
The BJP, on the other hand, is pulling out all stops to wrest control of the Delhi Assembly, a bastion held by the AAP for nearly a decade. Congress, which ruled Delhi until 2013, is striving for a resurgence after failing to win a single seat in the last two Assembly elections.
As the capital braces for the February polls, the contest promises high-voltage drama, with AAP defending its governance record, the BJP attempting to stage a comeback, and Congress fighting for relevance in the evolving political landscape.
