A family in Karnataka’s Mysuru district was struck by tragedy just days before a scheduled wedding after a 21-year-old woman and her parents allegedly died by suicide. The incident occurred in Kempainahundi village, where the family was reportedly facing severe distress following the circulation of the young woman’s private photographs.
According to police, the woman, identified as Rakshita, was engaged and was set to marry on June 24. However, events leading up to the wedding took a devastating turn after a man allegedly shared her private images with her fiance.
Investigators said one Ullas Gowda had previously proposed to Rakshita but was turned down in the presence of her parents. Despite the rejection, he allegedly continued to harass the woman and her family over an extended period.
Police said the alleged harassment was not limited to Rakshita and also involved pressure being exerted on her parents, Nagaratna, 44, and Shivanna, 54.

On June 21, Rakshita’s parents reportedly called Gowda and his parents to their residence to address the matter. During the meeting, they warned him against further harassment and allegedly ensured that certain private photographs and messages connected to Rakshita were removed from his mobile phone. However, investigators believe that some images may have remained in his possession despite the deletion.
Police said that shortly after returning home from the meeting, Gowda allegedly sent retained photographs to Rakshita’s fiancé. The development reportedly angered the groom and his family, who subsequently visited the bride’s residence.
Authorities stated that tensions escalated following the confrontation, adding further emotional strain on the family in the days leading up to the wedding.
Three Family Members Allegedly Consumed Poison
Rakshita and her parents reportedly consumed poison at their home in Kempainahundi village. All three died in the incident, police said. Investigators recovered a purported suicide note in which the family allegedly held Ullas Gowda responsible for their deaths.
A case of abetment of suicide has been registered against Ullas Gowda. Police said the accused has been absconding since the incident and efforts are underway to trace him. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to determine the full sequence of events surrounding the deaths.
