Actor Vijay Deverakonda has issued a formal apology after a legal complaint was filed against him for a controversial comment about Adivasis during the Retro pre-release event. The statement, which drew backlash for allegedly insulting the Adivasi community, prompted Hyderabad-based lawyer Kishan Lal Chauhan to file a complaint at the SR Nagar police station.
Addressing the issue on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Deverakonda clarified his intentions behind the comment, emphasizing that he never intended to hurt anyone or cause division.“If any part of my message was misunderstood or hurtful, I express my sincere regret. My only aim was to speak of peace, progress and togetherness. I remain committed to using my platform to uplift and unify—never to divide.”
