Maddock Films has unveiled a thrilling glimpse into Thama, a genre-bending addition to its horror-comedy universe, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
Set to hit theaters during Diwali 2025, the film introduces a dark, romantic narrative intertwined with horror and action, marking the first love story in the franchise that includes Stree, Bhediya, and Munjya.
With a stellar cast, including Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal, Thama blends Indian folklore, vampirism, and comedy, igniting excitement across social media.
A Dark Romance Meets Vampire Mythology
Thama introduces Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok, a historian delving into the origins of vampirism in Indian folklore, and Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka, a beacon of hope in a chaotic narrative.
Their chemistry shines in a poignant exchange: “Reh paogyi mere bina 100 saal tak?” Alok asks, to which Tadaka responds, “100 saal kya, ek pal ke liye bhi nahi.” The story escalates with Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s chilling portrayal of Yakshasan, the “King of Darkness,” and includes a special dance number featuring Malaika Arora.
Fans have lauded the dynamic mix, with one saying, “This Diwali is gonna be crazy! Ayushmann seems so perfect for such a genre,” while another praised, “I’m excited for Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a villain vampire.”
Expanding Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Legacy
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar of Munjya fame, Thama is the fourth chapter in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe, following Stree (2018), Bhediya (2022), and Munjya (2024). The film weaves a narrative spanning modern India and the ancient Vijayanagar kingdom, blending romance, horror, and humor.

Paresh Rawal’s character, Ram Bajaj Goyal, described as someone who “Jo Hamesha Comedy Mein Tragedy Dhoondhte Hain,” adds a comedic layer, while cameos from previous franchise characters hint at a broader universe. The film’s tagline, “Na darr kabhi itna shaktishaali tha, aur na pyaar kabhi itna BLOODY!” sets the stage for a bold, thrilling experience.
