Tejashwi Yadav: legal complaint has been filed against Bihar Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, accusing him of possessing two voter ID cards with different numbers. The complaint, submitted by advocate Rajiv Ranjan at Digha police station in Patna, comes amidst an ongoing political row over the alleged manipulation of electoral rolls ahead of the Bihar assembly elections later this year.
According to reports, an FIR has not yet been registered, though the matter has drawn sharp attention from both the Election Commission of India (EC) and the ruling BJP.
Election Commission Disputes Tejaswi Yadav’s Claim of Missing Voter Entry
The controversy began when Tejashwi Yadav held a press conference on Saturday and claimed that his name had been removed from the electoral rolls. Connecting his phone to a large screen, Yadav entered his Elector’s Photo Identity Card (EPIC) number — RAB2916120 — and showed that no records were found online.

In response, the Election Commission issued a notice to the RJD leader and stated that the EPIC number shared by Yadav was not officially issued. The commission clarified that Yadav is still listed at serial number 416 of polling station number 204 at Bihar Animal Sciences University in Patna. His official EPIC number is RAB0456228, the same one used in both the 2015 and 2020 elections.
The BJP has since alleged that Tejashwi Yadav holds two valid EPICs, which it claims is a criminal offence under electoral laws. The EC has asked Yadav to submit the details of the voter ID he used in the press conference for further investigation.
