A SpiceJet employee, Anuradha Rani, was arrested for slapping a male assistant sub-inspector (ASI) during an altercation over security screening at Jaipur airport. The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred around 4 am when ASI Giriraj Prasad stopped Rani for lacking valid permission to enter through a specific gate.

According to CISF officials, Anuradha Rani was entering the airport with other staff members when she was redirected to a nearby entrance for airline crew screening.

However, no female CISF personnel were available at the time. The ASI called for a female colleague to complete the security check, but an argument escalated, culminating in Rani slapping Prasad, as confirmed by Jaipur airport station house officer Ram Lal.

In response, a SpiceJet spokesperson stated that Rani had a “valid airport entry pass” and alleged that she was subjected to inappropriate language by the CISF personnel. The spokesperson claimed the ASI used “inappropriate and unacceptable language” and invited her to meet him after his duty hours.

“An unfortunate incident occurred at Jaipur Airport involving a SpiceJet female security staff member and a male CISF personnel. While escorting a catering vehicle at the steel gate, our female security staff member, who had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home,” NDTV quoted a SpiceJet spokesperson as saying.

SpiceJet announced immediate legal action for sexual harassment and has approached local police, standing firmly by their employee and pledging full support.

The police have registered a case against Rani under sections 121 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 132 (assaulting public servant) of Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
