The Meghalaya honeymoon murder case has taken a chilling turn, with reports revealing that Sonam Raghuvanshi, the prime accused, was so determined to kill her husband Raja Raghuvanshi that she was prepared to push him off a mountain herself if the hired killers failed.
“If Vishal, Anand, and Akash are not able to kill Raja, I will push him down the mountain while taking a photo,” Sonam allegedly told her suspected lover and co-conspirator Raj Kushwaha, according to police sources quoted by India Today TV.
Investigators say Sonam began plotting the murder just four days after her wedding on May 11. She returned to her maternal home in Indore on May 15 and immediately started coordinating the murder plan with Raj Kushwaha over phone calls.
She booked tickets to Guwahati and convinced Raja to first visit the Kamakhya temple in Assam, using it as a stalling tactic to delay intimacy and buy time.

Raja’s Body Found in Gorge, Autopsy Reveals Brutal Blows
On May 23, Sonam and Raja checked out of a homestay in Nongriat village, Meghalaya. Ten days later, Raja’s body was discovered in a gorge 20 km away, sending shockwaves across the region. The autopsy revealed that he was hit twice on the head with a sharp object — once from the front and once from behind — suggesting a premeditated and brutal attack.

According to the police, the murder was executed by three men — Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Akash Rajput (19), and Anand Kurmi — all allegedly hired by Sonam and linked to Raj Kushwaha. The group of killers had travelled from Madhya Pradesh to Meghalaya for the murder.
Following the crime, Sonam went missing. She resurfaced and surrendered at Nandganj police station in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, on June 8, after the three accused were nabbed in overnight raids in Indore, Sagar, and other locations. Raj Kushwaha (21), identified as the mastermind and Sonam’s alleged lover, was arrested soon after.
All four accused are now in transit custody of the Meghalaya Police, who continue to piece together the disturbing timeline and motive behind the murder.
