In a chilling turn of events, Sonam Raghuvanshi, who recently surrendered to police in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur, has been accused of conspiring with her lover to murder her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, just three days after their wedding. The couple had travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon, where Raja was found dead in a deep forest gorge near Cherrapunji.
Sonam has reportedly confessed to planning the murder with her lover Raj Kushwaha. In private chats retrieved during the investigation, Sonam told Raj she disliked her husband getting intimate with her, and had distanced herself from him even before the marriage.
“She told Raj in chat about planning to kill her husband three days after their marriage,” the sources said, adding that the location in Meghalaya was deliberately chosen for the crime.
Married on May 10, Husband Found Dead in Cherrapunji Gorge
Sonam and Raja were married in Indore on May 10, and travelled to Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 21. Soon after their arrival, the couple was reported missing, prompting a search by local police and rescue teams.
Raja’s body was eventually discovered in a deep gorge in a forested area near Cherrapunji. Initial suspicions of an accident were quickly ruled out by the Shillong police, who confirmed that Raja was likely murdered.
