As India-Pakistan tensions escalate, cinema halls across the country are feeling the heat, and ‘Raid 2’, despite being the only major Hindi film currently running in theatres, is not immune.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, the film opened to promising numbers, collecting ₹19.25 crore on its opening day. However, it has since seen a significant dip, with collections falling to ₹4.75 crore on Wednesday amid rising border conflict and high alert zones.
After eight days at the Indian box office, ‘Raid 2’ stands at ₹95.65 crore nett, just shy of the coveted ₹100 crore mark it was expected to cross by the end of its first week. While the performance is still commendable, the current geopolitical situation has clearly impacted footfalls in theatres.

While there’s no direct competition at the box office, the film’s expected challenge, ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, has now opted for a direct OTT release next week, citing public safety and uncertainty amid the current situation.
Adding to the disrupted entertainment calendar, several concerts and film releases have also been postponed, and the IPL 2025 has been indefinitely suspended by the BCCI, further underscoring how national priorities have shifted.
The Indian Air Force confirmed on Thursday night that it successfully intercepted missile and drone attacks from Pakistan targeting regions in Jammu, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir, raising the overall security concerns and diverting public attention.
Though ‘Raid 2’ is poised to enter the ₹100 crore club soon, the film’s box office journey serves as a reflection of how even the entertainment sector isn’t immune to the impact of real-world events.
