The murder of 25-year-old tennis player Radhika Yadav has sent shockwaves across the country, not just for the brutal nature of the crime but also for the chilling background of the accused—her own father. Deepak Yadav, 49, allegedly shot his daughter at their Sushant Lok home in Gurugram, using a licensed .32 bore revolver.
According to NDTV, Deepak confessed to the murder and is currently in police custody. The incident occurred around 10:30 AM on Thursday, when Deepak fired five rounds, three of which hit Radhika in the back as she was preparing breakfast in the kitchen.
Properties, Prestige, and a Disturbing Confession
The investigation has revealed that Deepak Yadav owned multiple rental properties across Gurugram, bringing in between ₹15–17 lakh in monthly income. A family acquaintance from Wazirabad village, his native place, confirmed, “Deepak owns a luxurious farmhouse and is very well-known in the village for his wealth.”

The same acquaintance stated, “Only people with the right connections and money can get such a firearm license. No common man keeps it.”
Deepak allegedly harbored resentment toward Radhika’s rising public profile, independence, and social media presence. He claimed villagers mocked him for relying on his daughter’s income and had asked her to shut down her tennis academy. The acquaintance, however, disputed this, saying, “He loved his daughter. There may be some personal reason behind the murder, not tennis or the academy.”
Radhika, who ran her own tennis academy in Gurugram’s Sector 57, lived in a two-storey residence with her parents. Her uncle Kuldeep Yadav, residing on the ground floor, rushed upstairs after hearing gunshots and found Radhika lying in the kitchen. The murder weapon was found in the nearby drawing room.
She was immediately taken to Asia Maringo Hospital in Sector 56 by family members, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.
The case continues to unfold as authorities investigate the motive behind the crime.
