The pink-lit Qutub Minar symbolizes hope, survival, and the courage of those battling breast cancer. This initiative sends a strong message to women, especially those over 40, highlighting the critical need for regular mammograms, which can greatly improve treatment outcomes through early detection.
Dr. Vedant Kabra, Principal Director of the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, commented on the urgency of breast cancer awareness, stating, “Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Indian women, accounting for over 25% of all female cancers. Alarming trends show younger women, even in their 20s and 30s, are increasingly being diagnosed with advanced stages of the disease. Early screening, therefore, is more important than ever.”

The illuminated monument underscores Fortis Healthcare’s commitment to raising awareness about breast cancer, supporting survivors, and promoting education on this critical health issue. With breast cancer cases rising in India, Fortis hopes to inspire more women and their families to take proactive steps in fighting the disease.
