Relentless rainfall has battered Himachal Pradesh, triggering multiple landslides and flash floods that have left roads blocked, power disrupted, and communities isolated.
A fresh landslide on the Atul-Larji Sainj road in Kullu has cut off as many as 15 panchayats. Visuals from the site showed dust and debris sweeping across the road, with locals watching helplessly as a few vehicles were stranded.
The Chandigarh–Manali National Highway has also been blocked by multiple landslides. Visuals from the Bajoura check post showed long queues of vehicles and passengers waiting as authorities worked to clear the debris. Meanwhile, the Kasol–Kullu road was closed on Monday morning after landslides at several locations washed away portions of the road.
Over 350 Roads Blocked Across State
According to the state emergency operation centre, the monsoon’s fury has left at least 355 roads across Himachal Pradesh blocked, including three national highways. Mandi has been the worst-hit, with 202 roads shut, including NH 21. Kullu followed with 64 roads blocked, including NH 305. Other districts affected include Sirmaur (28), Kangra (27), Chamba (9), Shimla (8), Una (7), Lahaul and Spiti (6), Kinnaur (2, including NH 5), and Bilaspur and Hamirpur with one each.

Power supply has suffered widespread disruption, with 557 electricity transformers down in Kullu, 385 in Mandi, and 112 in Lahaul-Spiti. Water supply schemes have also been affected, with 44 non-functional in Mandi and nine in Kullu, according to reports.
Officials said restoration work is underway on a war footing, but frequent landslides, ongoing rainfall, and high-altitude challenges are hampering progress.
