Chhattisgarh Maoist surrender | In a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against Naxalism, security forces in Chhattisgarh achieved a significant milestone with the surrender of nine Maoists in Bijapur district on Wednesday. Among those who surrendered was a senior Maoist carrying a reward of ₹24 lakh on his head. In a separate incident, another Maoist was neutralised during an encounter.
The development marks a notable step forward in the state’s intensified anti-Naxal operations.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai lauded the efforts of the security forces, stating, “This reflects the image of a changing Bastar — where guns are being lowered and the voice of development is rising.” He attributed the success to the “indomitable courage of security forces and the strong leadership and guidance” of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.
CM Reaffirms Commitment to Eliminate Naxalism by March 2026
Highlighting recent achievements in the state’s anti-Naxal campaign, CM Sai stated that since December 2023, Chhattisgarh has witnessed the neutralisation of approximately 450 Maoists, 1,579 arrests, and 1,589 surrenders. “These figures are clear evidence that Naxalism in the state has entered its final phase,” he said.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminating Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by March 31, 2026, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah.
