To commemorate 25 years of Jharkhand’s formation, the state government has announced a statewide blood donation campaign from November 12 to 28, as part of the grand celebrations for Jharkhand State Foundation Day. The initiative aims to promote voluntary blood donation and spread awareness across all districts through active public participation.
Addressing officials via video conferencing, Health Department Special Secretary Neha Arora said the government has decided to make this year’s Statehood Day “grand, memorable, and inspiring,” with blood donation being a central part of the celebrations.
Arora announced that special blood donation camps will be organized in all districts between November 12 and November 28, encouraging citizens to come forward and donate blood voluntarily. Civil surgeons, blood banks, civil society organizations, volunteers, and District Public Relations Officers (DPROs) will play a key role in mobilizing public awareness.
She emphasized that officials must develop a clear strategy to encourage participation and promote the benefits of blood donation. “Public awareness is crucial. Inform people about the importance of donating blood and remove myths and misconceptions surrounding it,” Arora said.
She instructed DPROs to carry out extensive publicity campaigns and engage with organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club, and other community groups to maximize participation.
Officials Directed to Prepare Blood Donation Calendar
Neha Arora directed all civil surgeons to prepare a calendar of blood donation camps and coordinate with district commissioners to ensure proper implementation. She said that MPs, MLAs, Zila Parishad Chairpersons, Deputy Commissioners, and Superintendents of Police should be invited to participate in the camps and donate blood themselves.
“This will send a positive message across society and inspire more people to come forward for this noble cause,” she added.

The Health Department has instructed that complete details of the campaign — including locations, schedules, and contact points of blood donation camps — be made easily available to the public. Arora emphasized involving media personnel in the campaign for wider publicity and effective coverage.
She also directed officials to map potential donor areas to identify where maximum participation can be expected and ensure special attention to backward districts.
Neha Arora said that the initiative marks just the beginning of a sustained effort to strengthen blood storage and availability across Jharkhand. “We must continue this momentum so that no patient loses their life due to blood shortage. This campaign will serve as an inspiration for ongoing efforts,” she said.
The video conference was attended by all civil surgeons, DPROs, blood bank representatives, and senior officials from the Health Department.
