Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and state BJP president Babulal Marandi visited veteran tribal leader and former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Karia Munda on Wednesday. Munda, 88, is currently undergoing treatment at Medica Hospital in Ranchi after being admitted on Tuesday.
“Today, I met senior leader respected Karia Munda ji, who is undergoing treatment at Medica Hospital, and enquired about his health and directed the attending doctors to provide him with the best medical facilities. I pray to Marang Buru for the speedy recovery of respected Karia ji,” Chief Minister Soren posted on X following the visit.
The veteran politician, who served as a minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and was an eight-time MP, was admitted to the hospital after a sudden drop in blood sugar and a spike in blood pressure. His son, Jagarnath Munda, told PTI that his father’s condition was now stable and that he had resumed eating.
BJP leader Marandi also took to X, writing, “Met former Lok Sabha deputy speaker Karia Munda ji, who is undergoing treatment at Medica Hospital in Ranchi, and enquired about his health from the doctors. I pray to God for his speedy recovery.”
CM Also Meets Former Hockey Player Bimal Lakra at Ranchi Hospital
Apart from Munda, Chief Minister Soren also met former international hockey player Bimal Lakra, who is receiving treatment at Curesta Hospital in Ranchi. Lakra was found unconscious on June 30 near his paternal home in Simdega district.

“Today, I visited Curesta Hospital and met with former international hockey player Bimal Lakra, who is undergoing treatment, and gathered information from the attending doctors about the medical facilities being provided to him. I pray to Marang Buru for his speedy recovery,” Soren said in a post.

According to a government release, Lakra was initially admitted to Simdega Sadar Hospital, where a CT scan revealed a blood clot in his head. He was later referred to a hospital in Ranchi for further treatment.
