Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday announced that an international cargo facility will soon be launched at Raipur Airport, enabling farmers to directly access global markets and benefit from better prices for their produce.
The announcement was made during the assumption of charge ceremony for the newly appointed chairpersons of the Chhattisgarh State Seeds and Agriculture Development Corporation Limited and the Chhattisgarh State Farmer Welfare Council at Sector-24 in Nava Raipur. The Chief Minister congratulated Shri Chandrahas Chandrakar and Shri Suresh Kumar Chandravanshi on their new responsibilities and expressed confidence that the farmer leaders will significantly contribute to agricultural growth and farmer welfare.
Key Announcements Made by the Chief Minister for Farmers:
- International cargo services at Raipur Airport will soon begin, opening up global markets for local farmers.
- Farmers were encouraged to cultivate millets, maize, and low-water-consuming crops.
- A call was made to promote organic farming in the state.

- The Solar Sujala Yojana will be restarted, under which farmers will receive solar irrigation pumps at subsidized rates.
- Farmers were urged to adopt horticulture, fishery, and animal husbandry alongside traditional farming to increase income.
- The eligibility criteria for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) have been expanded — now farmers owning 5 acres of unirrigated land or 2.5 acres of irrigated land, owning a motorcycle, and earning a monthly income of ₹15,000 will also be considered eligible.
The Chief Minister further stated that during the tenure of the previous government, 18 lakh eligible families were deprived of homes under PMAY. Upon assuming office, the current government immediately approved 18 lakh houses, and funding for 14 lakh houses has already been received from the central government. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is expected to soon release funds for an additional 3.5 lakh houses for Chhattisgarh.

Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao said that the Farmer Welfare Council and the State Seeds Corporation play a crucial role in designing innovative, ground-level schemes for farmers. He lauded the government for entrusting two experienced, grassroots-level farmer leaders with these responsibilities. Cabinet Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, speaking on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, stated that the government is committed to the welfare of farmers, inspired by the strength, dedication, and service symbolized by Lord Hanuman.

The event was attended by MPs Brijmohan Agrawal (Raipur), Santosh Pandey (Rajnandgaon), and Rupkumari Choudhary (Mahasamund), MLAs Motilal Sahu (Raipur Rural), Purandar Mishra (Raipur North), Sampat Agrawal (Basna), along with officials from the Seeds Corporation and Farmer Welfare Council, and a large number of farmers.
