The Chottanikkara Police on Monday, around 4 pm in the morning, found a human skull and bones stored in a refrigerator in an abandoned house near Kochi in Kerela. The house, is located at Palace Square near Eruveli in Cottanikkara, few kilomteres north of Chottanikkara Bhagavathy temple, Kerala.
The house is said to be owned by an Ernakulam native and was left deserted for over 15 years.
The abandoned residence was searched by the police after the Panchayat authorities lodged a complaint, narrating that the house was used as a base by the anti social activities.
Police investigation
The Police, highlighted, “There were markings on the skeleton parts, suggesting that they might have been used for academic purposes, especially since all three sons of the house owners are doctors. Such marking are typically made on skeletons used for academic study. We summoned the owner, who is also a doctor and now settled at Vyttila. however, he claimed to have no idea how the skeleton parts ended up in the house”.

Upon investigation, the bones were found in three different covers. And the human skull seemed several years old as per the Police. Although the exact, age of the skull, is yet to be determined. The abandoned house, had no electricity connection and the fridge did not even have compressor.
Further, investigation is still in process. A post-mortem and DNA profiling would also be conducted to determine the whether it was of a male or female. As of now, the Police has filed case under Section 175 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.
