Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday met former Indian football team captain and internationally acclaimed player Bhaichung Bhutia at the Chief Minister’s residential office. During the courtesy call, both discussed the development of sports in Jharkhand, particularly football, along with ways to provide better training to players and strengthen sports infrastructure in the state.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that under the state’s sports policy, athletes are being provided scholarships, employment, advanced coaching, and modern resources. Special schemes are also being prepared for popular sports like football to identify talent at the grassroots level and nurture it further.
On this occasion, Bhaichung Bhutia shared his suggestions with the Chief Minister for the promotion of sports, especially football, and for grooming the talent of young players in Jharkhand. He said the state is rich in sporting talent, and many athletes from here are already performing at national and international levels.
Government Committed to Nurturing Sports Talent
Welcoming Bhutia, Chief Minister Hemant Soren reiterated that the state government is committed to the overall development of sports. He said football is immensely popular among the youth of Jharkhand, and the government is continuously working to strengthen its infrastructure while ensuring better training and opportunities for players.

The Chief Minister added that the guidance and experience of legendary players like Bhaichung Bhutia will provide new direction to athletes in the state. He expressed confidence that this would boost the morale and enthusiasm of Jharkhand’s young sportspersons.
“Jharkhand has immense potential in sports. The government is committed to providing opportunities and facilities to players at every level,” the Chief Minister said.
