Director Rajkumar Santoshi recently revisited the legacy of his cult classic film Andaz Apna Apna (1994) and shared exciting details about a potential new comedy project, tentatively titled Adaa Apni Apni.
The film, starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, and Karisma Kapoor, is now regarded as one of Indian cinema’s most iconic comedies. However, Santoshi clarified misconceptions about its initial reception, saying:
“They just say that it flopped. The publicity wasn’t done properly, and people assumed it was a love story like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak or Maine Pyar Kiya. The distributors were inexperienced and pulled it from theatres despite positive word-of-mouth.”
Despite these setbacks, Andaz Apna Apna has since gained legendary status through its humorous screenplay, unforgettable characters, and enduring appeal.
Plans for a New Comedy: Adaa Apni Apni
Santoshi revealed that he is working on a new comedy inspired by the style of Andaz Apna Apna. While the project is in its early stages, he shared: “I am writing a comedy in the style of Andaz Apna Apna. It’s an experiment, but I can assure you it will be entertaining.”
