Assadduin Owaisi Slams Bilawal Bhutto | All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has fiercely rebuked Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari over his recent inflammatory “blood will flow” remark. Owaisi reminded Bhutto of the tragic assassinations of his own mother, former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and grandfather, former President Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, cautioning him against making provocative statements.
Bilawal Bhutto, who served as Pakistan’s Foreign Minister until 2023 and remains a key figure in the ruling coalition, made the controversial remark at a public rally last week. Responding to India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty following the brutal Pahalgam terror attack that killed 25 tourists and a Kashmiri civilian, Bhutto said, “The Indus is ours and will remain ours — either our water will flow through it, or their blood.”
The aggressive comment has triggered sharp reactions across India’s political spectrum, with leaders condemning Bhutto’s rhetoric as dangerous and irresponsible.
Asaduddin Owaisi’s Strong Rebuttal
Speaking to the media, Owaisi dismissed Bhutto’s statement as “childish talk” and called for introspection.
“Forget about such childish talk. He doesn’t know what happened to his grandfather? His mother?” Owaisi said. “His mother was killed by terrorists. So at least, he should not be speaking like this. Do you even know what you are talking about?”
Owaisi pointedly added, “Unless the US gives you something, you cannot even run your country, and you are trying to threaten India?”

He also reminded Bhutto that terrorism was responsible for Benazir Bhutto’s death, stressing the hypocrisy: “When they shot your mother, it was terrorism. When terrorists kill our mothers and daughters, it is still terrorism.”
Owaisi also lashed out at Pakistani leaders who have recently issued nuclear threats towards India, warning them that no country would tolerate the murder of its innocents. “You are worse than Khawarij and ISIS sympathizers,” he said.
Indian Political Leaders Respond Sharply
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri reacted strongly, suggesting Bhutto should seek mental health evaluation. “Tell him to get his mental condition checked, what kind of statements he is giving. Enough is enough… We will no longer tolerate this. Now wait for a few days,” Puri said.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also condemned the inflammatory rhetoric. “The Pakistanis have to understand they simply cannot kill Indians with impunity,” Tharoor said.

“We have no designs on Pakistan, but if they act, they must be prepared for a response. If blood is going to flow, it will possibly flow more on their side than ours.”
Background: The Legacy of Violence
Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in a 2007 suicide bombing during a rally in Rawalpindi. Investigations linked her killing to terror groups like al-Qaeda and Taliban factions, but the case remains officially unresolved. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, her father, was executed in 1979 following a controversial trial under military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq.
Bilawal Bhutto’s recent comments have reignited focus on Pakistan’s internal struggles with extremism and violence — issues that continue to haunt the country’s political fabric.
