Former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely has once again switched parties, returning to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just days after stepping down from his post in the Congress party.
Despite initially stating that he would not join the BJP, his decision to rejoin the party has concluded speculation surrounding a potential crossover.
The return of Arvinder Singh Lovely to the BJP was formalised in the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde, and Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva.
Alongside Arvinder Singh Lovely, several other former Congress leaders, including former MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Naseeb Singh, Neeraj Basoya and former Youth Congress president Amit Mallik also joined the BJP.
Lovely’s departure from the Congress comes against the backdrop of dissatisfaction with the party’s decision to form an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Lok Sabha elections, despite the incarceration of several AAP ministers on corruption charges. His concerns over this alliance were expressed in a letter to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge.
This is not the first time Arvinder Singh Lovely has switched parties. He previously joined the BJP in 2017 but returned to the Congress after nine months.
His return to the BJP signals a significant shift in Delhi’s political landscape and highlights ongoing realignments ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The addition of Arvinder Singh Lovely and other former Congress leaders to the BJP’s ranks underscores the party’s efforts to strengthen its position and broaden its base in Delhi. As political dynamics continue to evolve, these developments are likely to impact electoral strategies and alliances in the region.
