A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped, killed and buried by a family member in the Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh.
The accused, a 22-year-old resident of the same colony, had allegedly enticed the child to the field on Friday by offering her chocolates. According to the police, he killed her in the field and buried the body.
Her parents began looking for the girl after the girl did not come home. In the end, they reported to the police that they had last seen her with the accused.
According to Superintendent of Police L Subbarayudu, quoted by NDTV, the accused confessed to his crime during interrogation and was placed under arrest.
“He acted in an odd manner. He admitted to the crime when we questioned him. He claimed to have brought her to a public area close to the school and sexually abused her,” said Subbarayudu.
The child’s body has now been taken to the Puttur government hospital for post-mortem. According to the police, the child’s mother treated the accused as her brother.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced a Rs 10 lakh financial assistance.
