“Panchayat 3,” the third season of the Amazon Prime series, has garnered significant attention online, with many viewers finding the show relatable and discussing various aspects of it on social media. One of the main points of interest has been the village of Phulera, where the series is set. While the show references Phulera as being in Uttar Pradesh, the actual filming location has been a topic of curiosity.
To address this, Madhya Pradesh Tourism recently clarified the true location of Phulera. In a strategic move to engage with the audience, they posted a video on Instagram showing the office of Gram Panchayat Phulera and asked viewers to guess its location. The comment section was quickly filled with users identifying it as Mahodiya village.

In a subsequent post, Madhya Pradesh Tourism confirmed that the series was indeed shot in Mahodiya, located in the Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh.
This revelation has sparked various reactions from users. Some praised the tourism department for leveraging the popularity of “Panchayat” to promote Madhya Pradesh, calling it the “best tourism campaign.” Others appreciated the authenticity of showcasing real villages instead of artificial sets.

However, there were also suggestions that the series should have explicitly mentioned that the village is in Madhya Pradesh rather than Uttar Pradesh. This, some users argued, would have better highlighted the beauty and simplicity of Madhya Pradesh’s villages.
The Instagram post by Madhya Pradesh Tourism has gained significant traction, amassing over one lakh likes, and has successfully connected with fans of the show, highlighting the charm of Mahodiya village.
Interestingly, there is a real Phulera village in Rajasthan, near Jaipur, which is one of the constituencies of the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. This adds another layer to the conversation around the show’s setting and its real-world counterparts.
Madhya Pradesh Tourism’s engagement through social media showcases an effective use of popular culture to boost regional tourism, demonstrating how modern campaigns can creatively connect with broader audiences.
