Chennai: Former Telangana Governor, Tamilsai Soundararjan, rejoined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, in the presence of Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai.
Annamalai addressed the criticism faced by Tamilsai Soundararjan from Left parties and the DMK for joining the BJP after serving as a Governor. He emphasized the BJP’s ethos of individuals willingly leaving prestigious positions to serve the public as ordinary citizens, contrasting with other parties’ focus on attaining top positions in politics.
Highlighting Soundararajan’s performance as the Governor, Annamalai praised her decision to rejoin politics, attributing it to her dedication to serving the people and strengthening Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
Tamilsai Soundararjan, a gynaecologist aged 62, had initially joined the BJP over two decades ago. She resigned from the party before assuming the position of Governor of Telangana in 2019, later becoming the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry in 2021. Her return to the BJP underscores her commitment to the party and its objectives.
