Maoists Surrender In Chhattisgarh: At least 22 Maoists, including 12 with a combined bounty of Rs 40.5 lakh on their heads, surrendered to security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Friday, police officials reported.
The group, which included nine women, voluntarily surrendered before senior officers of the police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). According to Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, the cadres expressed disillusionment with the “hollow” and “inhuman” Maoist ideology, as well as the continued atrocities committed against local tribal communities.

Sukma SP Kiran Chavan noted that the Naxalites were also motivated by the state government’s ‘Niyad Nellanar’ (Your Good Village) scheme, which promotes development in remote areas, along with the new surrender and rehabilitation policy.
The surrendered individuals were previously active in the Maad division of Chhattisgarh and the Nuapada division in Odisha, both known Maoist strongholds.
