Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday levelled serious allegations against the Congress and claimed that the party in its election manifesto has mentioned that it will bring in ‘Sharia law’ and redistribute people’s property.
Speaking at an election rally in Amroha, Yogi Adityanath said, “The Congress and its allies have betrayed the country and have once again come to you with their false manifesto. If you look at the Congress’ manifesto, they say that if they form a government, we will implement Sharia law. You tell me, will this country be run by the Constitution made by Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar or by Shariat?”
During his election speeches, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Congress wants to redistribute people’s properties as a part of its manifesto.
Yogi Adityanath also said, “Congress people talk in their manifesto that they will implement ‘vyaktigat kanoon’ (personal laws). That means Sharia law will be implemented because Modi ji stopped the practice of triple talaq. They say that we will again restore personal law. These people will implement Sharia law.”
Yogi Adityanath referred to the 2006 statement made by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stating that Muslims had the primary claim to the nation’s resources, questioning the fate of marginalised groups such as farmers, Kharagvanshis, Dalits, backward classes and those who are poor. The chief minister claimed that the Modi government had put an end to terrorism in India.
Adityanath added that Pakistan now makes it clear that it is not involved whenever there is a loud explosion of firecrackers. “Pakistan is afraid that even by mistake, a terrorist incident takes place in India and some innocent citizen is killed, they will have to face consequences,” he stated.
Yogi Adityanath said Congress had the opportunity to lead the country for 65 years, but they accomplished nothing. He also claimed that the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress were involved in dynastic politics while urging support for NDA candidate Rajkumar Sangwan (of RLD).
According to Yogi Adityanath, terrorism and mafia rule will return if votes go to the wrong place. “The rights of farmers and the poor will again be subject to robbery. Not only this, our daughters and the businessman will again be unsafe,” Yogi Adityanath said.
Jayant Chaudhury, the head of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), was also present on this particular occasion. On April 26, Amroha and Baghpat will vote in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
