The Delhi Police said the shooter, Ankit Sirsa, was the youngest among those who killed Sidhu Moosewala.
New Delhi: One among the main shooters who killed Sidhu Moosewala was arrested by the Delhi Police on Sunday, the police informed on Monday. The police have also arrested an aide who sheltered four of the shooters. The duo was held from Kashmiri Gate bus stand in Delhi.
Special Commissioner of Police of the Delhi Police Special Cell Hargobinder Singh Dhaliwal said, “The sharpshooter, Ankit Sirsa and Sachin Bhiwani are members of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang. Ankit, who is a resident of Sonipat in Haryana, is accused in two other cases of attempts to murder in Rajasthan. Ankit was the youngest shooter who killed Sidhu Moosewala.” Bhiwani is also accused in a “heinous case” in Rajasthan’s Churu.
The police seized one 9 mm bore pistol along with 10 live cartridges and one pistol of .30 mm bore along with 9 live cartridges from the duo. “Three Punjab Police uniforms, two mobile handsets along with a dongle and a SIM card were also recovered,” the police said.
Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on May 29, a day after the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government had withdrawn security covers of 424 VIPs. Moosewala usually moved around in his bullet proof Fortuner but on May 29, he was on a Thar which is not bullet proof. The singer-rapper-politician was rushed to the Mansa Civil Hospital in a critical condition but died during treatment.
Some time back the police had said jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is the mastermind in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case. This had come after the police repeatedly questioned Bishnoi for a few days.
