Indian television star Rupali Ganguly has stirred a nationwide conversation after slamming Pakistani actor Fawad Khan for his recent remarks condemning Operation Sindoor, India’s precision military strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir.
Ganguly, who is widely known for her lead role in the hit TV show Anupamaa and is also a member of the BJP, issued a sharp response to Fawad Khan’s post. The Pakistani actor had criticized India’s military action following the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which left 26 civilians dead, including tourists and a foreign national.“You working in Indian films was also ‘shameful’ for us #OperationSindoor #IndianArmy #IndianAirForce,” Rupali Ganguly wrote in a scathing message on social media.

Her bold stance resonated across Indian social media platforms, with many users backing her sentiment and expressing outrage over Khan’s remarks.
One user wrote,“Pathetic state of affairs. Using India for your personal gains, and then making such statements is in very poor light. Not expected from someone like you. What happernd when your country killed innocent tourists and widowed young newly married women? How ethical was that? #OperationSindoor #IndianArmy #IndianAirForce.”
Another comment read,“It’s true; I agree with your statement. He is uncouth such a shameful person. Bollywood has given him recognition, fame, and money.”

Fawad Khan, who rose to fame in India through successful Bollywood films like Khoobsurat (2014) and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016), was set to return with another movie titled Abir Gulaal alongside Vaani Kapoor. However, the release of the film was indefinitely postponed in India following the Pahalgam terror attack.
A day after India launched Operation Sindoor, Fawad Khan posted a message, without directly naming India:“My deepest condolences to the families of those injured and killed in this shameful attack. I pray for the souls of the deceased and strength for their loved ones in the days to come. A respectful request to all: stop stoking the flames with rabble-rousing words. It is not worth the lives of innocent people. May better sense prevail. InshaAllah. Pakistan Zindabad.”
In the wake of this backlash, the Indian government has blocked the Instagram accounts of Fawad Khan and other Pakistani celebrities. On Thursday, authorities also instructed OTT platforms to remove all Pakistani content, including films and web series.
Meanwhile, in a coordinated move, the Indian Army neutralised over 50 swarm drones launched by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab areas like Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot during a large-scale counter-drone operation.
The heated debate surrounding Fawad Khan’s statement has reignited conversations about the ethics of cross-border collaborations in entertainment, especially in the context of national security and patriotism.
