BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to initiate a breach of privilege motion against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi following his claim in Parliament that Chinese troops were present on Indian soil. The statement led to an uproar in the Lok Sabha on Monday, with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accusing the Congress leader of misleading the nation.
In a letter addressed to Speaker Om Birla, Dubey alleged that Gandhi “not only shamelessly distorted the historical and substantive facts in his speech but also made an attempt to ridicule our country and lower the prestige of our Republic.”
BJP Counters Rahul Gandhi’s China Claims
During his speech in the Lok Sabha while replying to the President’s address in the Budget Session, Gandhi launched a scathing attack on the Modi government. He alleged that the failure of the ‘Make in India’ initiative was responsible for the presence of Chinese troops on Indian soil.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju promptly intervened, accusing Gandhi of spreading misinformation. “We would like to remind him that such kinds of frivolous act and language should not be repeatedly used. It undermines the parliamentary standards,” said Rijiju.

BJP MPs are considering bringing a privilege notice against Mr Gandhi if he fails to substantiate his allegations, sources added.
Rahul Gandhi Alleges India’s Job Loss to China
Apart from the China border issue, Gandhi also raised concerns about unemployment, claiming that India had “handed over production jobs to China.” He further alleged that Beijing was “sitting on 4,000 sq km of our land,” contradicting the government’s assertion that no land was surrendered to China.
“The reason China is inside our territory is because ‘Make in India’ has failed. India is refusing to produce, and I’m worried India is going to give up this revolution to the Chinese, again,” Gandhi said in his address.
Rijiju strongly refuted these claims, stating that the Congress leader cannot make such an “unsubstantiated statement” about the “relation between two countries.”
Jaishankar Counters Rahul Gandhi’s Claims on PM Modi’s US Visit
Gandhi also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to the US multiple times to “get an invite for the Prime Minister” for Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

Responding to this, Jaishankar, a Rajya Sabha member, rejected the claims outright. “At no stage was an invitation in respect of the PM discussed. It is common knowledge that our PM does not attend such events. In fact, India is generally represented by Special Envoys,” he clarified.
Possible Breach of Privilege Action
A breach of privilege notice is a parliamentary tool invoked against members found misusing their rights or misleading the House. With BJP MPs pushing for action against Gandhi, the coming days are likely to witness intense political debates over the matter.
As the controversy escalates, all eyes are now on the Speaker’s response to the privilege motion request, which could set the stage for yet another high-stakes showdown in Parliament.
