In a surprising development within the ongoing sex video scandal involving JDS MP Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka, the National Commission for Women (NCW) revealed on Thursday that one of the woman complainants in the case has come forward with a startling claim.
She alleged that a group purporting to be police officers coerced her into filing a false complaint under threat of harassment.
This revelation prompted former Chief Minister and JDS state President H D Kumaraswamy to accuse the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the scandal of employing threats against the victims.
Kumaraswamy expressed concerns that SIT officers were pressuring victims into fabricating statements favourable to the Congress government by using the spectre of prostitution charges.

“The investigating officers are going to the doorsteps of the victims and threatening them. Tell us, isn’t it a fact that the SIT officers are threatening the victims with false prostitution cases against them? Is this how the probe is being conducted,” questioned Kumaraswamy, addressing Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.
Kumaraswamy, who is the brother of the arrested MLA H D Revanna, further pressed for answers on the whereabouts of the allegedly kidnapped woman and condemned the distribution of private victim videos.
Prajwal Revanna, the JDS MP embroiled in the scandal, is the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda. Amidst the controversy, Kumaraswamy emphasised that everyone involved should be subject to due process and the law.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara defended the SIT’s conduct, assuring that the investigation is proceeding efficiently.
“The SIT is diligently carrying out its investigation, and the state government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness,” Parameshwara stated in response to the allegations.
He dismissed the JDS’s accusations, asserting that the government need not respond to every claim made against the SIT. Parameshwara emphasized that once the investigation concludes, comprehensive details will be disclosed, and action will be taken against any individuals found guilty of blackmailing the victims with the compromising videos.
The scandal, which has gripped Karnataka’s political landscape, continues to unfold as stakeholders on all sides navigate the complex and contentious investigation.
