Indian Idol 12 winner Pawandeep Rajan sustained multiple fractures and a head injury after a serious car accident on National Highway 9 near Gajraula in Amroha district. The singer, along with his friend Ajay Mehra and driver Rahul Singh, was en route from Champawat, Uttarakhand, to Delhi for a programme when the accident occurred around 3 am.
According to the police, the MG Hector in which they were travelling collided with a stationary Eicher Canter parked on the roadside.
Gajraula police station in-charge Akhilesh Pradhan stated:”The vehicle hit a parked Eicher Canter from behind.”
Emergency responders reached the scene quickly and rushed the injured to a private hospital for initial treatment. Due to the seriousness of their injuries, the victims were later shifted to Fortis Hospital in Noida.
Driver Fatigue Suspected as Cause
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accident may have been caused by driver fatigue.
A senior police officer confirmed:”Primary investigation indicates that the accident was caused by the driver, Rahul Singh, who reportedly dozed off at the wheel, causing the car to lose control.”

Current Medical Status: Stable but Critical
Pawandeep Rajan suffered fractures in both legs and a head injury. He remains under close medical supervision in Noida.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shwetabh Bhaskar:”Both damaged vehicles have been seized, and further action will be taken upon receiving a written complaint.”
Fortis Hospital, where Pawandeep is admitted, released the following statement:”Pawandeep Rajan has been admitted to Fortis Hospital, Noida, under the care of the orthopaedics team following a road traffic accident that resulted in multiple limb fractures. He is currently stable and conscious. As part of his treatment plan, he will be undergoing a series of sequential surgeries. Our clinical team is closely monitoring his condition and providing all necessary medical care.”
Pawandeep Rajan’s Journey So Far
Originally from Champawat, Uttarakhand, Pawandeep comes from a family of Kumaoni folk artists. His father Suresh Rajan, mother Saroj Rajan, and sister Jyotideep Rajan are all associated with music.
He gained national fame after winning Indian Idol Season 12, beating five other finalists to take home the trophy, a car, and a ₹25 lakh cash prize. Prior to that, he also won The Voice India in 2015 under Team Shaan, receiving a ₹50 lakh prize.
Pawandeep has served as a mentor on Superstar Singer 2 and is known for his soulful tracks like Yaad, Fursat, Mazoor Dil, Tere Liye, and O Saiyyonii.
