Bengaluru police have arrested a call centre employee, Vikas Kumar, for allegedly assaulting an Indian Air Force (IAF) Wing Commander affiliated with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), following a road rage incident on Monday.
The arrest was made based on a complaint lodged by Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta, the wife of Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, at the Byappanahalli police station.

“We have obtained multiple videos of the incident from both bystanders and CCTV footage,” confirmed DCP Bengaluru East, D Devaraj. “The accused, Vikas Kumar, who works at a call centre, has been taken into custody. His version has been recorded and the arrest was made as per the FIR,” he added.
IAF Commander’s viral video on Social Media narrating the entire incident
A video shared on social media by Wing Commander Bose shows him bleeding from the forehead and nose. In the video, he alleges that a two-wheeler rider attacked him after an argument involving a car driven by his wife, who was dropping him at a bus stop for a journey to Kolkata, where his father was undergoing surgery.

Bose claimed that the attacker called him an outsider and struck him with a stone. According to Dutta’s complaint, the altercation occurred near Old Madras Road after their car, coming from the DRDO enclave in C V Raman Nagar, encountered the two-wheeler.

“The man was driving recklessly and almost collided with our car. I looked at him, and we continued driving. However, he circled back, blocked our path, and started an argument,” the complaint stated. “He then picked up a stone and hit my husband, threatening us by saying, ‘I see your DRDO sticker. This is Kannada land. Just wait and watch’”, said the wing commander’s wife.
She further claimed that after she asked her husband to get into the car, a group of unidentified individuals approached them, pulled him out, and beat him on the road while speaking in Kannada.
CCTV footage brings a new twist to this Bengaluru case
Meanwhile, sources indicated that CCTV footage from nearby establishments also shows that the IAF officer might have assaulted Vikas Kumar during the altercation.
CCTV footage shows that both parties were engaged in a physical altercation. The video captures the DRDO officer, Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose, pushing the other man onto the road and repeatedly kicking and hitting him, while bystanders attempted to intervene and stop the scuffle. Investigations are ongoing.
