Prime Minister Narendra Modi has four gold rings apart from other assets, revealed his election affidavit submitted on Tuesday in Varanasi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declared total assets worth over Rs 3 crore, according to his election affidavit filed during his nomination from the Varanasi constituency on Tuesday. Despite this wealth, the Prime Minister owns no land, houses, or cars.
The bulk of PM Modi’s assets comprises a fixed deposit of Rs 2.86 crore with the State Bank of India. He also reported having Rs 52,920 in cash and Rs 80,304 spread across two bank accounts in Gandhinagar and Varanasi. Additionally, PM Modi has invested Rs 9.12 lakh in National Savings Certificates and owns four gold rings valued at Rs 2.68 lakh.
The affidavit highlights a notable increase in his income, which rose to Rs 23.56 lakh in the 2022-23 fiscal year from Rs 11.14 lakh in 2018-19. Regarding his education, PM Modi completed a Bachelor of Arts from Delhi University in 1978 and a Master of Arts from Gujarat University in 1983. He also stated that there are no pending criminal cases against him.
Upon filing his nomination in Varanasi, where he seeks a third term as Member of Parliament, PM Modi expressed his gratitude and emotional connection to the constituency.
“I am overwhelmed and emotional. I did not even realise how 10 years passed under the shade of your affection,” he said.
Varanasi is set to vote in the seventh phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially entered the race for the 2024 Lok Sabha election by filing his nomination from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He was joined by a distinguished group of senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance partners. The previous evening, Modi led a vibrant six-kilometer roadshow, demonstrating significant political strength and support.
Key figures in Modi’s entourage included BJP President JP Nadda, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. They were accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. The coalition’s unity was further highlighted by the presence of alliance partners such as Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary, Lok Janshakti Party leader Chirag Paswan, Apna Dal (Sonelal) leader Anupriya Patel, and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party’s Om Prakash Rajbhar.
Earlier in the day, Modi commenced his nomination journey with prayers at the revered Dashashwamedh Ghat and a visit to the Kaal Bhairav Temple, alongside Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Reflecting on his bond with Varanasi, Modi expressed, “My relationship with my Kashi is amazing, inseparable, and incomparable… it cannot be expressed in words!”
