Pakistani Intruder Killed At LoC In Punjab’s Ferozepur | In a significant development amid growing border tensions, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday shot dead a Pakistani national who attempted to infiltrate Indian territory along the International Border (IB) in Punjab’s Ferozepur sector. The incident occurred under the cover of darkness and comes days after India launched Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to an official BSF statement, troops observed suspicious movement along the IB late Wednesday night. The intruder was seen advancing toward the border security fence, prompting the BSF to issue multiple verbal warnings.
However, the individual continued to approach aggressively, forcing BSF personnel to open fire in self-defense.
The intruder was neutralized on the spot, and a search operation was immediately launched in the surrounding area.
Spike in Infiltration Attempts Along Punjab Border
The killing comes amid heightened border vigilance following India’s precision missile strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, under Operation Sindoor. The retaliatory operation was carried out after the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 civilian lives, including that of a Nepali tourist.
Just days earlier, on Sunday, BSF troops in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district apprehended a Pakistani national identified as Muhammad Hussain, who was caught trying to sneak into Indian territory. Officials recovered Pakistani currency and a national ID card from his possession.

He has been handed over to the Punjab Police and is currently in custody.
In a separate incident, a Pakistani Ranger was arrested in Rajasthan for a similar cross-border intrusion. Preliminary investigations suggest he may have been involved in espionage or reconnaissance activities, and BSF officials are questioning him.
Security Tightened After Operation Sindoor
Following India’s 24-target missile operation against terror camps run by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen (HM), border security has been significantly ramped up. Punjab and Rajasthan are on high alert, with shoot-on-sight orders issued in sensitive zones and anti-drone systems activated.
The BSF, Indian Army, and state police forces have intensified patrols and surveillance across border villages to prevent infiltration attempts and potential retaliation from Pakistan-based terror groups.
Political Reactions and Continued Vigilance
The increase in infiltration attempts and Pakistan’s unprovoked firing across the Line of Control have sparked strong political and public reactions. The Indian government maintains that its actions are defensive, proportionate, and aimed only at terror infrastructure.
With tensions still high, Indian security agencies remain on full alert across the western front, anticipating further provocation or asymmetric retaliation.
