The All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a strong statement condemning the remarks made by Pakistani artistes in response to India’s Operation Sindoor, calling for a complete ban on their involvement in Indian entertainment.
On Wednesday, May 7, AICWA shared the statement on its official X handle, denouncing comments made by several Pakistani actors, including Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, that the association deemed disrespectful to the nation and insensitive to the lives lost due to terrorism.“The statements are not just disrespectful to our nation but also an insult to the countless innocent lives lost due to terrorism and the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our country. AICWA reaffirms its strict and complete ban on Pakistani artists, filmmakers, and financiers working in India. No Indian artist will collaborate with any Pakistani talent, nor will any global platform be shared with them.”
This comes in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, a precision military strike carried out by the Indian Armed Forces targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack.

A Call to the Indian Film and Music Industry
The AICWA statement went further, urging the Indian film and music industries to distance themselves from Pakistani collaborations and take a strong stand in support of national sentiment.“It is time for the Indian film industry to understand that blindly supporting these artists under the pretext of art is a betrayal of national pride. Some individuals in our industry continue to show sympathy and support for Pakistani artists, ignoring the sentiments of our nation. AICWA urges these individuals to stop supporting those who openly disrespect India. This is not just about art—it is about standing with your country during critical moments. Our nation must come first (sic).”

The association criticised Indian music companies and singers who continue to collaborate with Pakistani talent, particularly on global platforms.”It is unfortunate that several Indian music companies continue to promote Pakistani artists, giving them frequent work and exposure. Many Indian singers also share stages with these artists globally, ignoring the sentiments of the nation. AICWA calls upon these companies and individuals to stop supporting Pakistani talent and to stand with the nation (sic).”
Industry Urged to Comply
In its concluding remarks, AICWA appealed to Bollywood and regional film industries to enforce the ban and align with the broader national sentiment.”AICWA urges all stakeholders in the Indian film industry, including Bollywood and regional industries, to respect this ban and prioritise national interest over any collaboration.”
With the controversy intensifying, the issue of artistic collaboration versus national loyalty has once again sparked debate within the Indian entertainment world.
