Mumbai Police have arrested a 20-year-old man, Gufran Khan, from Noida in connection with death threats made against Bollywood actor Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui, the son of recently slain NCP leader Baba Siddique.

Police sources report that Siddiqui’s office in Bandra received a chilling threat message demanding ransom payments, with consequences if the demands were not met.

According to officials, these threats surfaced on Friday evening when Zeeshan Siddiqui’s staff reported the messages to the police, prompting an FIR. Upon investigation, authorities identified another suspect, Mohammed Tayyab, as the primary individual behind these threats and quickly moved to arrest him. Gufran Khan was subsequently detained on a transit remand, furthering the probe into the origins and implications of the threats.

Escalation of Threats Amid Baba Siddique’s Tragic Murder

Just weeks ago, Baba Siddique, a former NCP MLA and a close friend of Salman Khan, was tragically shot dead near his son’s Bandra office. This murder has intensified concerns surrounding Zeeshan Siddiqui’s safety, especially after this new threat emerged shortly following his father’s death.

Police investigations reveal that Siddiqui’s office received menacing messages demanding a hefty ransom and warning of imminent danger to both Zeeshan and Salman Khan. Security has since been heightened around the Siddiqui family and the Bollywood star, who has been subject to repeated threats over the years.

Ongoing Investigation and Increased Security for Salman Khan

Mumbai Police have been vigorously investigating multiple threat sources targeting Salman Khan, including an incident earlier this year involving members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Known for issuing threats to prominent figures, suspected gang members even opened fire outside Khan’s Bandra residence in April, escalating concerns over the actor’s safety. Following these recent developments, Mumbai Police have implemented enhanced security measures to protect him.

Past Threat Incidents: Shaikh Hussain’s Ransom Demand

In another recent incident, Mumbai Police detained Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Jamshedpur, after he issued a separate threat via a WhatsApp message to the Mumbai traffic police helpline. The threat demanded ₹5 crore as ransom, further highlighting an alarming trend of high-profile threats involving ransom and violence.
