When Nancy Tyagi walked the Cannes red carpet in a breathtaking pink ruffled gown, social media erupted with praise. The self-made fashion influencer had claimed to design and stitch the dress herself, even revealing she spent over a month working on it. It was a classic underdog story — a small-town girl making it big on the global stage.
But the joy didn’t last long.
Neha Bhasin Breaks the Internet with Her Accusation
Singer Neha Bhasin took to Instagram to call out Nancy Tyagi for allegedly copying a corset-style dress Bhasin had worn earlier. In her Instagram story, Bhasin wrote, “This corset looks too familiar. Why is no one talking about how it’s a copy of my design?”
The timing couldn’t have been worse. While Tyagi was still basking in her Cannes spotlight, Bhasin’s post sent shockwaves through fashion circles. Suddenly, Tyagi’s Cinderella story was being questioned — was it all too good to be true?

The ₹25,000 Dress Rumor
To make matters murkier, reports surfaced suggesting that Tyagi’s dress might have actually been purchased from a Mumbai boutique — not handmade, as she claimed. Allegedly, the dress cost ₹25,000 and was later altered. If true, this directly contradicts Tyagi’s narrative of laboring for weeks to create it from scratch.
Fans Divided, Industry Watches Closely
Social media has been quick to react. While many fans still support Tyagi, praising her past DIY projects and creative talent, others feel disappointed. “If it’s true, it’s disheartening. We rooted for her because she was real,” one user commented.
For now, Nancy Tyagi hasn’t publicly addressed the allegations in detail. But as the controversy grows, one thing is clear: in the age of transparency, authenticity is everything.
